The following is a transcribed fever dream from yours truly nerdy, caught somewhere between the void of fasted cardio and the neon hellscape of post-workout carb loading.. And if you want to just skip right to the top secret video, you can go HERE. If not, read on at your own peril :O We were somewhere around the lab, on the edge of ketosis, when the supplements began to take hold. I had summoned a group with promises of unlocking the secrets of human performance. Not your garden variety snake oil and broscience, mind you, but the raw, pulsing truth about how to turn your body into a fuel-burning beast of unstoppable efficiency. The workshop started innocently enough, but when viewed through their eyes seemed like this: ...there we were, a room full of wide-eyed seekers of enlightenment, notebooks at the ready, but Dr. Mke - PhD wielding maniac that he is - had other plans. "Listen up, you primitive screwheads!" he bellowed, slamming down a stack of peer-reviewed papers that would make a lesser academic weep. "You want to know about metabolic flexibility? I'll show you metabolic flexibility!" What followed was a three-hour descent into beautiful madness complete with a gesticulating laser pointer, painted visions of a world where your body switches between fat and carbohydrate fuel sources with the precision of a german sports car. The crowd sat transfixed as he revealed the dark arts of fasted cardio - that morning ritual where dedicated lunatics chase the dragon of fat oxidation before the sun dares show its face. ..but it was his sermon on strategic carb timing that really sent the room into a frenzy. "You think you can just shovel in those sweet potatoes whenever you damn well please?" he roared. "Wrong! Dead wrong! The post-workout window is sacred ground, you animals!" The intermittent fasting segment nearly caused a riot. Half the room was convinced they'd never need to eat breakfast again, while the other half clutched their protein shakers like rosaries. By the end, we'd all seen too much - glimpsed too deeply into the metabolic abyss. There was no going back to our comfortable lies about three squares a day and only doing steady-state cardio. The weary participants stumbled out into the harsh light of day, reading their notes aloud like the ravings of a mad scientist: Ok ok, so maybe it did not actually do down like that it was a more civil discussion of metabolic flexibility with my good friend James Cerbie. Nevertheless, it was captured by the power of Zoom for you to watch below: >> Met Flex 1 Hour Seminar << watch it here Here is what we actually cover: Enjoy and much love, Dr Mike PS- disclaimer: no mitochondria were harmed in the making of this fevered dream workshop. Listen up, today is the day after Christmas and smack dab in the middle of the HolidaZe. I am sure you have seen some beautiful disasters of dietary debauchery.... I'm writing this from the smoking ruins of what used to be my kitchen, surrounded by the evidence of Christmas carnage: empty cookie tins, abandoned eggnog cartons, and enough wrapping paper to blanket a small country. The holiday feeding frenzy has claimed another victory, and we're all lying in the wreckage wondering what hit us....
If you are new here- welcome! And here is my annual tale of Christmas Eve lutefisk style. When growing up for every year of my adult waking life that meant one thing… ….lutefisk. Up until around 10 years ago. More on why that is important coming up, but first some background for the lutefisk naïve. It is pronounced as LOOT –A – FISK. If you are in Minnesota like I am, make sure you do the OO sound really long. LOOOOOOOOOT –A – FISK. If you do not know what it is, consider yourself blessed....
You there- savage of the Iron Temple, gather 'round! I am transmitting live from the feverish depths of a Festivus where the weights clang like demented church bells and the chalk dust hangs thick as conspiracy theories at a flat earth convention. Let me tell you about my latest descent into the madness of strength - the Thomas Inch dumbbell, that cruel mistress of cast iron weighing in at 175 pounds of pure malevolent intent. Picture, if you will, a handle as thick as a beer can, mocking you...
