Violent Consistency

Every GooRoo with a ring light and a peptide discount code is screaming from the digital void about the newest shiny object.

Maybe it’s a peptide.

Perhaps a biohack.

Or some fresh study proving your left hamstring must be trained at exactly 37.2 degrees of hip flexion during a waxing moon.

Next comes the miracle superfood harvested from a secret Amazon tributary by barefoot monks with three piranhas stuck to their ass.

Revolutionary.

Game changing.

Until next Tuesday. Tune in then.

Meanwhile, the actual “secret” is sitting quietly in the corner wearing old sweatpants because it is far too boring to go viral.

Violent consistency.

That’s it.

Day after day.

Week after week.

Months turn into years.

Years pile into decades.

Intelligent work performed with violent consistency.

And yes, I mean violent.

Because you are making entropy your beooootch.

Entropy wants disorder.

Muscle disappears.

Conditioning fades.

Skills rust.

Health drifts.

Attention gets kidnapped by shiny nonsense.

Your move?

Push back.

Train.

Eat the protein.

Sleep.

Practice the skill.

Do the boring aerobic work nobody posts about.

Pick up heavy things.

Keep moving when motivation has packed its bags, flipped you the bird, and left for Cancun.

Not recklessly.

Not stupidly.

Consistently.

Build that foundation first.

Then play with the fancy stuff.

Try the programming trick.

Experiment with the biohack.

Test the supplement.

Nibble on the radioactive Amazon moonberry.

Maybe something moves the needle 2%.

Perhaps 5%.

Cool.

But 5% stacked on top of jack squat is still jack squat.

Boring fundamentals executed relentlessly will Derrick Henry random flashes of optimization every darn time.

Kudos to you for doing the work when nobody is watching...

when progress feels glacial...

when the PR refuses to show up...

when life gets messy...

Pat yourself on the back.

You earned it.

Then get your happy a$$ back to work. haha

Much love and violent consistency,
Dr. Mike

It is true that dreams come true, as your truly nerdy recently got loose inside Dave Tate's Table Talk podcast for three unsupervised hours. Let me back up to how deep this fandom runs. I first heard of Dave right after he started EliteFTS. A few years later I worked up the nerve to call the Elite sales line — which, in those days, was a phone that Jim Wendler personally picked up. I proceeded to hold the man hostage for an hour. When the smoke cleared I owned a 2x2 rack, a TX power bar, a...

In this episode of the Flex Diet Podcast, I sit down with Dean Guedo and Jeb Stuart Johnston of Food on the Mind for our yearly "AI in Fitness" check-in. We get into whether creators should disclose their AI use, why deepfaked video is a very different beast than AI-assisted writing, and why so much hard-won fitness expertise never made it onto the internet at all. We also dig into dead internet theory, why LLM writing may have already peaked, and why demanding physical skills may become more...

Newsflash, Brosefus. Four weeks from now — Monday, October 12 — I fling open the gates of the Physiologic Flexibility Certification for 1 week only. Why should you care? Hold your glutes with both hands as I answer you via a story of Optimizing Otto. Spreadsheet so gorgeous it should hang in the Louvre — color-coded, auto-calculating, little branded PDF with his face photoshopped onto a lion. Immaculate. Meanwhile his client is doing the death-flop at rep six because their ability to buffer...
