Weekly Wrap Up April 20, 2025

Yes, it’s that glorious overlap where resurrection meets reefer, and if you spot a stoned Easter bunny dragging a basket of edibles across the dunes, just give him a nod and move on. No sudden moves.

We're still deep in the chaos of South Padre Island, where the wind gods have been extra generous this past week. The wonderful wifey Jodie got out yesterday and absolutely crushed it — riding the board both directions like Poseidon's understudy.

As for me? I was lit up like a solar flare and floated across the Gulf for 34 miles over 2.5 hours. Just me, the wind, and the ever-looming threat of faceplanting into jellyfish.

Hit a 17.9-foot jump, cleared 120 feet, and for one brief, shining moment, I was the Easter Bunny — if he had quads, a barbell addiction, and too much beta alanine in his bloodstream.

Here's what went down this week.

Chris Barnes sounds like he gargled gravel and washed it down with lava. Raw, sludgy death metal to celebrate the herbal holiday properly.

Perfect cool-down vibes for when you’ve finished lifting heavy stuff and need to return to your baseline like a functional adult. I took Jodie to see Clutch live this past year, and even she’s a believer now.

That’s it for this week. Whether you’re chasing the kite wind or dodging chocolate-fueled toddlers at a family brunch, I hope you stay wild, stay weird, and train like a mythological beast with a Wi-Fi connection.

Much love and flying squirrels,
Dr. Mike

Greetings from the wind-blasted sands of South Padre Island, where the only thing flying higher than my kite is the collective jaw of the music industry after witnessing what just happened with Sleep Token. Now, I know this ain’t a metal newsletter… ….But stick with me—because there’s a lesson here every coach, trainer, or performance specialist needs to hear. At the start of 2023, Sleep Token were just a mysterious, masked metal band with a cult following and a weird mix of metal, soul, funk...

Greetings from the salty gusts of South Padre Island, where sand gets in places protein never will, and the wind howls louder than your average bro-scientist claiming you’ll pee out anything over 30 grams of whey. Today’s dispatch? A dive deep into the shadowy alleyways of nephrology, muscle tissue, and mortality curves. But fear not—this ain’t your grandma’s renal diet pamphlet so strap on your propeller helmet as we are going hard down the nerd chute on this one. The Last Stand Against High...
